On the national level spending is higher and revenues are higher than they have ever been, all as a result of LOWERING taxes. So why do those who want to spend even more money want to raise taxes? Why does NJ raise taxes EVERY year and complain that they don't have enough money EVERY year? How hard is this to understand? Lowering taxes ALWAYS raises tax revenue, never fails, so why do politicians who only want to spend money, do the opposite of what ALWAYS works? [May 11, 2007]

Still wondering what is wrong with the country you are supposed to love? New Rasmussen poll shows 35% of democrats BELIEVE George Bush knew about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in advance and as many as 61% could believe it. This publication needs help understanding this. Hospital services cost those who pay their own expenses 4.5 times as much as insurance companies pay? When you spend money that is not your own it is easy to be irresponsible:
  • Example number one is the $8 billion wasted on school buildings...

The tax-payers stayed home but not the people on the gov't teat. Statewide, school budgets passed yesterday in record numbers, adding to the bloated, inefficient, morally bankrupt public school systems. Look up your town, see how few votes were cast...; We can't really complain about taxes if, when given the chance, as meaningless as it ends up being, we don't even bother to vote. Ultimately, the voter gets what he deserves, and it looks like the voter wants higher and higher taxes and less and less liberty...; So much does the voter want the gov't to give him something he will re-elect even those under investigation for crimes against the State if their corruption inures to the benefit of that same short sighted voter... No news for 4 days? The Staff and Management of SaveNJ.com wish a speedy and complete recovery to Governor Jon Corzine. While this publication truly prays for the Governor to get well soon, we feel compelled to point out the "lack of liberty threatening, money grabbing, quality of life destroying" news over the last four days. It seems that whether you shut the government down with uncertainty over leadership or with a big rain storm the people are safer, albeit temporarily, than when Trenton is open for business. Someone buys a house with an adjustable rate mortgage because they can't afford the payment of a conventional mortgage, but they just have to have that big, beautiful house. Unrealistically they believe they are going to be able to afford a much larger mortgage and tax payment three to five years down the line, and when the time comes and they can't afford the payments - foreclosure. But wait, this is NJ, in the United States, no one should have to suffer the consequences of bad decisions, the gov't will bail you out. Believe it or not, old reliable Bob Menendez is leading the charge so that the people who make good decisions, the people who don't buy what they can't afford, the people who might like that big, beautiful house but suffice with less, these people should chip in and help the people who made bad decisions keep their big, beautiful houses. The NJ lesson is reinforced once again, just because you can't live in a big, beautiful house doesn't mean you can't pay for one... [April 12, 2007]

Why is the State opposed to giving every child a chance at a good education? Why would anyone be opposed? Since there is zero correlation between spending and outcome, why does the State insist children attend entrenched, never improving, non-performing schools? Why does the court rule that those same schools should get more money rather than the far less costly solution of allowing parents to send their children to the school of their choice? Answer that and you will see that it is not about the children, but about the votes of the teacher's union. For though minority students stand to gain the most from school choice, the Democrats don't care about the votes of the minority student's parents because they know they already have them, and they know the best way to keep the majority of the minority voting for their failed policies is to keep them dependent, and they know the best way to keep them dependent is to keep them indoctrinated, and they know the best way to keep them indoctrinated is to keep them in the same failed public school systems...; Why else would they fight it? If you want even a hope of change to this State pray this lawsuit is successful - but don't hold your breath. In a State where the Supreme court reads "56 days" to mean "35 days" don't be surprised if they read "a fair and equitable education for all residents" to read "a fair and equitable education 'spending' for all residents who have their snouts in the public education trough... Why is indicted Bryant still collecting a paycheck from the tax-payers? [April 11, 2007]

If it were serious about cutting taxes, NJ could emulate Citigroup which is CUTTING 17,000 jobs and is expected to generate a total savings of approximately $2.1 billion in 2007, $3.7 billion in 2008 and $4.6 billion in 2009...; If a company that actually has to produce something is able to save almost $5 billion by cutting 17,000 jobs of people who are supposed to be really working, imagine how easily NJ could do the same thing... [April 11, 2007]

Shocker. Rebate checks to be mailed out right before November election. Direct credit that would have, according to Corzine, "saved millions" has been abandoned. Why bother instituting something you know you won't need next year? Besides, a direct credit to your property tax bill is not nearly as effective at buying votes as a check in the mail. We are reminded of the old W.C. Fields classic, "Madam, would you sleep with me for a million dollars?" She mulls it over and says, "Yes, I think I would." The man counters, "Would you sleep with me for ten dollars?" Indignant, she asks, "What do you think I am?" His reply: "I think we've already established that. We're merely haggling over the price." Will you sell your vote to this band of do nothing tax and spenders for a thousand dollars? If so, we have established what you are as well... [April 11, 2007]

McGreevey wants court to allow his five year daughter to spend overnights with him and his husband. Oh yeah, that sounds like a good idea. "Among other things, McGreevey wants to be able to take the girl to Australia, where partner Mark O'Donnell's parents live, and to continue to teach her to swim in the pool at the home he shares with O'Donnell. McGreevey has said he and O'Donnell want to enter a civil union once the divorce is final..."; If anyone is still not convinced McGreevey was the worst Governor this State has ever had they can now know he is also one of the worst human beings this State has ever had to put up with... Screwed. If we take the Governor at his word and it's not Carla (though we find it hard to discern a reason someone would give someone else over 2 million dollars that did not have something to do with beds and pillows), it must be the public...; Surprise, it is the tax-payer... [April 10, 2007]

Nothing is going to change, just wait and see the tax increases next year, and you can say good-bye to your rebate as well... [April 9, 2007]

Corzine has put NJ in a black hole. "There is nothing he can accomplish in the remaining 33 months of his term capable of offsetting his destructive legacy." Thanks to Jon, state workers still get 13 holidays (not counting Black Friday) and 15 sick days. That's five and half weeks off before they take a day of vacation. Add that in and most workers are taking at least 2 months off a year. It is little wonder we need so many of them. How many MONTHS do you get off a year - PAID?; And of course, the absolutely fraudulent accounting the State has perpetrated over the last ten years, the lying about the budget, and the never ending increases in spending (up 7% this year even though there is no money) only deepen the redness of the black hole... [April 9, 2007]

NJ may have company for the most irresponsible legislative body. There may be a comparable level of foolishness in Michigan. The Ledger expresses the proper disdain for our lawmakers and the fraud they passed as reform. Pension system $175 billion in the hole and climbing... [April 5, 2007]

This is a very, very small example of how the theft of tax dollars takes place. And this is another way... [April 5, 2007]

Thank a teacher. There is an interesting paragraph at the very end of the Tribune article on the "Great Trenton Pension Fraud." If you were ever concerned that it seemed the NJEA not only didn't care about the children, but also wasn't much interested in the general population of the state either, you need not be confused any longer. "In a statement Wednesday, the New Jersey Education Association said its members fought for a sales tax increase last year and saw half of the money raised paid toward their retirements." In their own words, they fought so that you might pay higher sales taxes. Now a lack of education is not the only thing to thank a teacher for... [April 5, 2007]

The sky is falling so we say, but what we really know, we dare not say, lest it be revealed that we know nothing! Hypotheses do not facts make... [April 5, 2007]

NJ's long term debt, $31 billion, and unfunded pension liability, which at first lie was said to be not $20 billion but rather $80 billion, combined may now likely be $175 billion. That's $175,000,000,000.00 or $205,882.00 for every single one of the 8.5 million residents. In this great State of integrity, a zero contribution to the teacher's pension plan can be recorded as a $551 million dollar contribution. How can that be you ask? Well so does the NY Times...; and except for a minor omission, the fact that they call Democrats "officials", and not those most recently responsible for this incredible accounting fraud, they point out a level of corruption that will ultimately bankrupt this State. Those who can, should leave the State now, the bill is coming due and there is no way to pay it... [April 4, 2007]

This from the Asbury Park Press. "As this fall's elections draw near, the math of the tax relief sham bears repeating: A family paying the state average of about $6,000 in property taxes will get a maximum 20 percent credit of $1,200. Last year, the average homeowner received a $285 Homestead Rebate that they won't get this year. Subtracting that reduces the tax relief to $915 - about 15 percent of the tax bill. Corzine has said that even with a 4 percent cap, homeowners could probably expect a 6 percent to 7 percent local tax increase this year. A 6.5 percent hike would add $390 to the tax bill, further reducing the "relief" to $525, or under 9 percent. From that figure, subtract last year's 16 percent increase in the sales tax, which will fund most of this year's property tax credit. The state estimates it will cost the average family an additional $275 per year - a figure we believe to be grossly understated. Even at $275, the so-called relief for the average taxpayer would be whittled down to $250 - a mere 4.1 percent. None of that takes into account the annual rate of inflation - likely more than 3 percent - or the myriad 'nuisance' and 'sin' taxes heaped on New Jersey residents over the last several years. 'Landmark' tax relief? Only to those who write press releases for Democrats seeking re-election in November..." [April 4, 2007]

The scam that is property tax reform was signed into law yesterday. Will this "business as usual" be enough to dupe the electorate again? Of course it will. For any state that has people throwing a party for the latest indicted politician, it can only be said to get exactly what it deserves, and NJ deserves this inbred den of thieves since they constantly re-elect these same charlatans, and when finally one is caught, they celebrate his moral bankruptcy and would re-elect him even though he would have to serve from jail... Bryant still a member of the legislature, WHY? Everyone else at the State House, including the Governor knew what he was doing, WHY did they allow it? WHY will they be re-elected? Listen to Christie on the indictment: "This is pretty brazen conduct... You've got to wonder why this guy was in charge of giving out taxpayer money. And you have to wonder why no one was watching the store..." [April 2, 2007]

Federal data shows that since December 2000 NJ has created 10,000 new private sector jobs. That is less than 2000 jobs a year. However, NJ did manage to create 52,600 government jobs over the same time frame. Who do you think is paying all those people? What do all those people do? There really can be only one question. Why would anyone be opposed to the banning of dual office-holding and the outlawing of political donations to local officials by government contractors? These are the two areas that seem to give our ethically challenged legislators the most trouble, so it seems a no brainer to just ban them. So why aren't they banned? Could it be the same reason we don't have other no brainers like school vouchers and people's referendum, where the people decide where they will send their children to school, and the people will decide with their votes how their money is spent...; Even the Star-Ledger gets it... [March 31, 2007]

Keep a close, close eye on Trenton now. If Bryant returns to NJ there is likely to be such an exodus that the feds would be better off just putting bars on the buildings and turning the entire Statehouse into a prison...; When this greedy, corrupt pig starts singing there are going to be even more nervous pols...; Of course some of his fellow bovine needn't worry about his canary impersonation. They are heading to jail all by themselves... [March 30, 2007]

If today's news doesn't provide a stark example of why nothing changes in NJ you must have recently graduated from NJ's public education system:
  • On election reform Trenton just mocks you with the status quo...

  • On the UMDNJ stinking rot they hire someone to be the new head that comes with the required proclivity toward entitlement...; Is this a precursor to a replacement for this crook?

  • On the Carla/Corzine conspiracy, saying it is not a crime, does not change the stink associated with doing what you should know is wrong...

  • On the Governor's judgment if you were still hopeful...

  • On pension reform you are being played for a patsy...

  • On finding an honest legislator you will look a long time...

  • And on the bottomless, never improving sinkhole of public education, get a load of this, "The president of the County College of Morris said about 60 percent of his freshmen need some remediation. 'After we spend $20 billion on public education, that's the level they come to you?'" [March 30, 2007]

Bryant indicted! - First of many... [March 29, 2007]

Even years after the disgraced gay American left office his stink is still permeating the state...; That's because he didn't leave for being gay or even for lying about it, he left for being the most corrupt fool this state has ever had as governor, and considering the lineup of rogues he has for competition that is saying something. Let us be thankful that some people have self-respect and will not allow this easily compromised, alternate life-style, corrupt, self hating low life to go unchallenged... [March 29, 2007]

When Trenton is spending your money the sky is the limit. It now costs $5.7 million to build a classroom and put some desks in it. The price tag for a new 33 classroom high school for 2000 students in New Brunswick is $187 million of your tax dollars. We are quite sure this will help one of the poorest performing districts in the state, heck, the new school is going to have day care. That way all the teenage mothers will have somewhere to leave their kids while not learning...; Unfortunately the Ledger must not read their own paper as their editorial board can't seem to make the mathematical leap necessary to understand the relationship between spending and results... The bottom line on the Turnpike sale is this, you ARE GOING TO PAY a LOT MORE to travel the Parkway and Turnpike, and that privilege will likely result in a dirtier and less well maintained and operated thoroughfare... [March 28, 2007]

It is just too easy for the ethically challenged to take your money. It makes this publication think that the State is taking too much of our money if it allows for so much of it to be stolen without "even a thought..."; Still, at least the trough swillers don't play favorites, at least as far as who they will tax. Gotta love the fact that they tax the poor same as everyone else... [March 28, 2007]

The corruption in New Brunswick, like Patterson, Passaic, Newark, Camden, etc. just deepens and deepens... [March 28, 2007]

You just know things are really going bad when the very liberal Moran picks up on our sentiments of yesterday regarding Corzine buying his whole party...; By the letter of the law this might not be corruption, but therein lies the problem with the entire state. Our elected officials, starting with the governor, who should not only be setting the example but making sure his AG is prosecuting every offense he can find, is all talk and no action. Regardless if some self-appointed ethics panel finds him guilty of anything, he should know that what he did and is doing is wrong. It's called self respect, born of respect for the people you represent. In Trenton, as well as in the towns, there is no respect, for self or anyone else. Nothing but a non-stop game of moral equivocation. And that encapsulates the problem in a nutshell, the people who elect these Orwellian Department of Truth workers do not see the equivocating as bad so much as they envy and admire the liars and plot ways to twist things in their own lives so as to match the behavior thats not "bad" if you don't get caught... A funny take on selling the turnpike so that it can be widened... [March 27, 2007]

There seems to be an odd pattern developing in Trenton. The majority of subpoenas being handed out for corruption are going to legislators with a 'D' after their names, while the majority of Senators not seeking re-election have an 'R' after their name...; Perhaps someday we will know if this is more than mere coincidence, but allow us to posit this observation about what seems to us, unusual numbers. When a Republican has even a hint of taint associated with his name, his supporters put him out. When a Democrat is neck deep in the sticky morass of nepotism, pay-to-play and no show jobs, his supporters elect him to higher office... [March 27, 2007]

The entire Democrat party of NJ has been bought by Corzine... [March 27, 2007]

Where do you go to apply for one of these jobs? It is still truer than true: not what you know, but who... [March 27, 2007]

Thank goodness Tennessee was able to grow someone who can lead the UMDNJ back to respectability. We wish him the best... [March 27, 2007]

The disdain Trenton has for the tax-payer on display again... [March 27, 2007]

And just in case you were getting concerned that your Federal taxes were too low, the solution you provided in November has seen to it that you need not worry about the gov't running out of your money. They are coming after much more with the largest tax increase in American history... again! (PDF) [March 27, 2007]

It's not only the big fish who want in on the graft... [March 27, 2007]

$19,000/student not sufficient for Abbott districts to fail, they want more... [March 27, 2007]

You have been duped by the crowd in Trenton, and if you re-elect any of them you deserve the higher property taxes which are happening even as they pretend to have done something...; If you can't see the inbreeding and what it has wrought you deserve the highest taxes in the nation... [March 26, 2007]

The typical Trenton two-step set up for tax increases continues... [March 26, 2007]

How many full time jobs are you able to hold down? If you work for the State, holding down two FULL TIME jobs is apparently not a problem. More than 500 people are doing it... and they thank you... [March 26, 2007]

There is clearly no relationship between spending and outcome when it comes to education...; Of course, that doesn't make a whit of difference to the unelected seven. $1847 per student on guidance counselors and nurses? An average of $12000/student and the poorest performing districts spending $18000/student?; Something is drastically wrong and no one has the guts to even say what it is let alone fix it... [March 26, 2007]

The Ledger has it absolutely right...; As the dinosaurs leave the statehouse they will only be replaced with the dinosaurs in waiting...; And nothing, absolutely nothing, will improve... [March 26, 2007]

Rutgers seems to have no money for programs for students, but plenty of money for the employees... [March 26, 2007]

Well NJ... where do you stand? Where do you want to stand? Where should you stand? [March 23, 2007]

If you read between the lines of this story you will see how Trenton manipulates you much the same way your town does. When the budget of your town comes up short, your leaders always threaten less police and firemen, never less town council members or tax accessors. The same is true in Trenton, what is offered is made to make it look as though failure is your fault and not the keepers of the status quo... [March 23, 2007]

And the next Governor of NJ explains the difference between having a moral compass, a set of uncompromisable standards and a spine, and being a self-indulgent, corruption justifying, spineless coward (like the vast majority in Trenton)... [March 23, 2007]

A preview of what every property tax payer can expect. If taxes are going up this much in a district that has its school budget paid for by the rest of us, imagine how much your taxes are going to go up...; But don't worry, you might yet get a "property tax" rebate in October that might offset the property tax increases of this year and next. These are fine fellows in Trenton don't you know. Just look at this phony outrage they exhibit towards the over-paid, uncaring, trough swilling incompetents they approve to these positions of budgetary authority. They feign disgust, they should be disgusted with themselves for voting for their appointments...; Not only are they not disgusted with themselves, they will gladly approve the next batch of party hacks that come before them, all the while knowing that any questions they have fall on deaf ears as there are no consequences for lack of performance... except, maybe a promotion... [March 23, 2007]

The nations highest illiteracy rate, 36%, can be found in the city that spends the most per pupil on public education. Do you think there might be some connection? [March 20, 2007]

Wake up people. This non-story is such a clear example of the main stream media's distorted view of even recent history, that those who believe it and allow it to influence their world view are the same people who believe there has been property tax reform in NJ... [March 14, 2007]
